How to Insert Data using Ajax in Laravel with Datatables

Are you looking for Laravel Crud tutorial with JQuery Datatables and Ajax, then in this post you can find something similar to it because in this post we have covered how can we insert or add data into Mysql table by using Ajax in Laravel framework with yajra laravel datatables package. We all know Laravel is a robust PHP framework for use enterprise web application and if we have use Ajax with that framework then it will add some advance advantage to it work flow. Because if we have use then page will not refresh it will perform database operation. So, In this post we have discuss one part Like Create or Insert or Add data into Mysql database and it is first topic of Laravel Datatables Crud with Ajax. In previous post we have already discuss how to implement yajra laravel datatables package with Ajax. So, here we have use same code for load mysql table data on web page in Jquery Datatables plugin in Laravel. First we have go to resources/views/student/ajaxdata.blade.php view file and under this file we have write html code for add new data button and bootstrap modal. Then after we have to write jquery code on event like when we have click on add button and submit form data event.

                        <input type="text" name="first_name" id="first_name" class="form-control" />
                    </div>
                    <div class="form-group">
                        <label>Enter Last Name</label>
                        <input type="text" name="last_name" id="last_name" class="form-control" />
                    </div>
                </div>
                <div class="modal-footer">
                    <input type="hidden" name="button_action" id="button_action" value="insert" />
                    <input type="submit" name="submit" id="action" value="Add" class="btn btn-info" />
                    <button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
                </div>
            </form>
        </div>
    </div>
</div>

<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
     $('#student_table').DataTable({
        "processing": true,
        "serverSide": true,
        "ajax": "{{ route('ajaxdata.getdata') }}",
        "columns":[
            { "data": "first_name" },
            { "data": "last_name" }
        ]
     });

    $('#add_data').click(function(){
        $('#studentModal').modal('show');
        $('#student_form')[0].reset();
        $('#form_output').html('');
        $('#button_action').val('insert');
        $('#action').val('Add');
    });

    $('#student_form').on('submit', function(event){
        event.preventDefault();
        var form_data = $(this).serialize();
        $.ajax({
            url:"{{ route('ajaxdata.postdata') }}",
            method:"POST",
            data:form_data,
            dataType:"json",
            success:function(data)
            {
                if(data.error.length > 0)
                {
                    var error_html = '';
                    for(var count = 0; count < data.error.length; count++)
                    {
                        error_html += '<div class="alert alert-danger">'+data.error[count]+'</div>';
                    }
                    $('#form_output').html(error_html);
                }
                else
                {
                    $('#form_output').html(data.success);
                    $('#student_form')[0].reset();
                    $('#action').val('Add');
                    $('.modal-title').text('Add Data');
                    $('#button_action').val('insert');
                    $('#student_table').DataTable().ajax.reload();
                }
            }
        })
    });

});
</script>
</body>
</html>

After this we have to go to app/Student.php model file and in this we have to define table column name for database operation like Insert Update and Delete.

<?php

namespace App;

use Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Model;

class Student extends Model
{
    protected $fillable = ['first_name', 'last_name'];
}

Now we should go to app/Http/Controllers/AjaxdataController.php controller file and in this class we have to define method for insert data into Mysql table, which code you can find below.

<?php

namespace App\Http\Controllers;

use Validator;
use Illuminate\Http\Request;
use App\Student;
use Datatables;

class AjaxdataController extends Controller
{
    function index()
    {
     return view('student.ajaxdata');
     //http://127.0.0:8000/ajaxdata
    }

    function getdata()
    {
     $students = Student::select('first_name', 'last_name');
     return Datatables::of($students)->make(true);
    }

    function postdata(Request $request)
    {
        $validation = Validator::make($request->all(), [
            'first_name' => 'required',
            'last_name'  => 'required',
        ]);

        $error_array = array();
        $success_output = '';
        if ($validation->fails())
        {
            foreach($validation->messages()->getMessages() as $field_name => $messages)
            {
                $error_array[] = $messages;
            }
        }
        else
        {
            if($request->get('button_action') == "insert")
            {
                $student = new Student([
                    'first_name'    =>  $request->get('first_name'),
                    'last_name'     =>  $request->get('last_name')
                ]);
                $student->save();
                $success_output = '<div class="alert alert-success">Data Inserted</div>';
            }
        }
        $output = array(
            'error'     =>  $error_array,
            'success'   =>  $success_output
        );
        echo json_encode($output);
    }
}

Lastly we have to set route for this newly created method in AjaxdataController.php file for insert data into Mysql table using Ajax request. For this we have to go to routes/web.php file.

<?php

/*
|--------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Web Routes
|--------------------------------------------------------------------------
|
| Here is where you can register web routes for your application. These
| routes are loaded by the RouteServiceProvider within a group which
| contains the "web" middleware group. Now create something great!
|
*/

Route::get('/', function () {
    return view('welcome');
});

Route::get('ajaxdata', 'AjaxdataController@index')->name('ajaxdata');
Route::get('ajaxdata/getdata', 'AjaxdataController@getdata')->name('ajaxdata.getdata');

Route::post('ajaxdata/postdata', 'AjaxdataController@postdata')->name('ajaxdata.postdata');
